While some plug-in hybrids prioritize fuel economy, others, like the Ferrari SF90, are engineered for blistering performance. The SF90 defies typical hybrid expectations, pairing a twin-turbo V-8 engine with three electric motors and a 6.5-kWh battery to deliver a staggering 986 horsepower. The track-oriented SF90XX models push the boundaries even further, boasting an additional 30 horsepower to surpass the 1,000-horsepower mark. This immense power is distributed to all four wheels, with the front wheels driven by electric motors. To enhance track performance, the XX variants feature a minimalist interior and other modifications aimed at reducing lap times. The standard SF90 is now exclusively offered as the Spider convertible, showcasing a lavish leather-clad interior and an innovative display and control system. The XX, however, remains available in both the Stradale coupe and Spider convertible configurations. Regardless of the specific SF90 model you envision, the combination of its advanced powertrain, aerodynamic design, and chassis engineering culminates in an exceptional mid-engine sports car that rivals the best, regardless of manufacturer.
The standard Ferrari SF90 coupe, or Stradale, is no longer available; only the Spider convertible version is offered. However, both the Stradale and Spider versions of the high-performance XX model are still available for purchase.
The anticipated base price for the 2025 Ferrari SF90 is approximately $593,950, but this can increase to as much as $995,000 depending on selected trim levels and additional features.
The SF90 Spider offers a satisfying experience with its standard features, making it ideal for primarily street driving. Personalize your Ferrari with numerous upholstery and paint options. Further customization is possible through various wheel designs, carbon-fiber components, a titanium exhaust, a digital rearview mirror, and colored brake calipers from the extensive list of available upgrades. Ultimately, choosing the right configuration is a matter of personal preference.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The SF90 leverages a potent combination of a V-8 engine and three electric motors for its power source. Its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine delivers an impressive 769 horsepower independently, while the electric motors contribute an additional 217 horsepower. This gas-electric powertrain culminates in a net output of 986 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The enhanced SF90 XX pushes the boundaries further, unleashing 30 more horsepower for a staggering total of 1016 hp and incorporating Ferrari’s “Extra Boost” feature, which provides a temporary surge in power for rapid corner exits. All four wheels receive power, a first for a mid-engine Ferrari, thanks to its all-wheel-drive system. An eight-speed automatic transmission manages the power delivery, and drivers can fine-tune the car’s handling via selectable driving modes, including EV Only, Hybrid, Performance, and the ultimate Qualify mode, designed to unlock the vehicle’s maximum performance potential.
0–60-MPH Times – Ferrari claims the SF90 Stradale can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, while the SF90 XX is projected to achieve it in 2.3 seconds. However, our own tests revealed the SF90 Stradale to be even quicker, hitting 60 mph in a mere 2.0 seconds. This was a record for a production car in our evaluations, until the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT recently surpassed it with a 0-60 mph time of 1.9 seconds. You can see us pushing the SF90 XX to its limits on Ferrari’s Fiorano test track.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG – According to the EPA, the SF90 Stradale is expected to achieve a combined fuel efficiency of 18 mpg when operating only on gasoline, and up to 51 MPGe when using both its gasoline engine and electric motors. The Spider variant has slightly lower estimates, with a combined rating of 17 mpg and 44 MPGe. However, we have not yet evaluated the SF90’s fuel economy on our 75-mph highway fuel economy test, which is a part of our extensive testing process. For detailed information about the SF90’s fuel economy, please visit the EPA’s website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The SF90’s interior is surprisingly understated for a hypercar, highlighted by the yellow Ferrari badge on the steering wheel. The two-seat cabin’s sculpted dashboard reflects the car’s flowing exterior. Cargo space is limited to about three cubic feet, as is typical for exotic performance cars. The SF90 XX models prioritize weight reduction with a more stripped-down interior. This includes carbon fiber door panels and center console, and the deletion of floor mats. Most notably, the standard seats are replaced with race-inspired bucket seats offering superior lateral support in the XX.

Infotainment and Connectivity – The SF90 boasts a front-mounted LCD monitor and a six-speaker audio system across all models. Standard technological features include Bluetooth connectivity for phone calls and audio streaming, real-time traffic updates, and a voice-activated integrated navigation system. While Apple CarPlay is included, Android Auto is not available.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features – The SF90, like most hypercars, doesn’t come standard with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technologies. For details on crash test ratings, refer to the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Noteworthy safety features include:
– Standard backup camera
– Standard rear parking sensors
– Available blind-spot monitoring
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage – Ferrari’s limited and powertrain warranty mirrors Lamborghini’s. However, Ferrari distinguishes itself by providing complimentary scheduled maintenance for seven years, a benefit not offered by Lamborghini.
– Limited warranty covers three years or unlimited miles
– Powertrain warranty covers three years or unlimited miles
– Complimentary maintenance is covered for seven years or unlimited miles
