The flying supercar from Klein Vision is nearing reality as they reveal its production prototype

Klein Vision’s AirCar, a flying supercar poised for mass production, was recently showcased at the 2025 Living Legends of Aviation Gala Dinner in Beverly Hills. This prototype represents the culmination of extensive testing and technical refinements, making it suitable for both commercial and personal applications. The engineering team anticipates the first flight of AirCar 2, considered the definitive pre-production model, to take place in late summer 2025.

To date, Klein Vision’s flying supercar has logged over 170 flight hours and completed more than 500 successful takeoffs and landings. Unique in its design, the AirCar functions as both an aircraft and a road-legal vehicle. On the ground, its wings retract, allowing it to be driven like a conventional car, while they extend for flight. The AirCar’s design resembles a supercar, albeit with the addition of a visible propeller and elevated tail section at the rear.

An aircar that can convert to automobile for use on roads.

In 2022, the AirCar achieved a significant milestone by obtaining its Certificate of Airworthiness from the Slovak Transport Authority, after successfully completing 70 hours of rigorous flight testing that met the European Aviation Safety Agency standards, including 200 takeoffs and landings. The current model boasts a 280-horsepower engine, while the advanced pre-production version is being engineered with a more powerful 300-horsepower engine and a fully composite structure, enabling a cruising speed of up to 150 knots and a range of 600 nautical miles. A short documentary highlighting Klein Vision’s 35-year development of the flying supercar was presented at the gala dinner where the mass-production-ready model was revealed.

The documentary traces the evolution of its design from a private jet-like form to a road-legal automobile with deployable wings. Klein Vision’s design team plans to introduce a diverse range of AirCar models following the initial production run, including three- and four-seater variants, a twin-engine version, and an amphibious model for water operations. While a pre-production model flight test is scheduled for late summer in 2025, Klein Vision has not yet announced the official commercial availability date for the AirCar flying supercar.
